Someone was penned (Note Checked Poems" on the front cover, and several poems have little ink asterisks at the top of the page. Scarce! Harry Webb Farrington (1879?1930) was an American author, poet, hymn writer, preacher, soldier and education. He was born an orphan and grew up at various locations in Maryland and witnesses the great religious revivals of the late 1890s. The story of his life comes from one of his books, Kilts to Togs: Orphan Adventures (1930). Farrington served as the athletic director for the French troops during World War I. He became an ordained Methodist preacher and served as pastor of the Grace Methodist Church in New York City. He then became the education director in that area for the Methodist Church Welfare League. Due to being paralyzed in an accident, he died on October 27, 1930 in Asbury Park, NJ. Signed.

A collection of poems and essays dedicated to the "four greatest Americans," (p. [3]), Franklin, Washington, Lincoln, and Roosevelt. The project, according to the author's Foreword, was inspired by an incident during World War I when Farrington passed a group of friendly Cuirassiers in Ain, France, during a stroll. Though Farrington had already published a book of war poetry, (Poems from France, 1920), his favored medium of expression was hymn writing. Signed.
