Interior is spotted and soiled and shows quite a bit of wear to edges and corners. This is a handmade high school yearbook assembled by Ruth Frances Bryant that includes the Girls H…igh School of Atlanta Georgia as well as El Paso high school. There are numerous color and black-and-white drawings by students and friends, newspaper clippings and photographs of family and friends. Numerous pages have autographs and notes from staff and friends as well. Roughly 20% of the book is used in the remaining pages are blank. One of the photographs is missing and there is another photo that is loose. The binding is showing pulling in several areas in it is possible that a page has been removed (this is at the location of the boat with a large moon painting on the page entitled Class Prophecy). One or two pages have small tears and some spotting and soiling is present. Many hours are spent trying to find family of Ruth Bryant but it appears she never had children. It appears she married George Samuel Edwards in Bibb county, GA, on Aug 25, 1918 but there is no real references to her after that. Hazel, Leman, A. Inscribed by the author on the front wrapper, "With good wishes, great respect and admiration, Margaret Farrell." The recipient, Ruth Bade…r Ginsburg, American lawyer and jurist, served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States from 1993 until her death in 2020 and was responsible for some of the most eventful legal decisions of the past half-century. Nominated by President Bill Clinton in 1993 to replace retiring justice Byron White, Ginsburg became the first Jewish woman and the second woman to serve on the Court, after Sandra Day OâConnor. Ginsburg spent much of her legal career as an advocate for gender equality and womenâs rights, winning many arguments before the Supreme Court. During her tenure as associate justice of the Supreme Court, Ginsburg received attention for her fiery and passionate dissents that reflected liberal views of the law. She was popularly dubbed âthe Notorious R.B.G.â, a moniker she later embraced. She authored several important majority opinions related to gender discrimination, voting rights, and affirmative action in cases such as United States v. Virginia (1996) which struck down the Virginia Military Instituteâs male-only admissions policy as violating the Equal Protection Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, Olmstead v. L.C. (1999) in which the Court ruled that mental illness is a form of disability covered under the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, and Friends of the Earth, Inc. v. Laidlaw Environmental Services, Inc. (2000) in which the Court held that residents have standing to seek fines for an industrial polluter that affected their interests and that is able to continue doing so. In fine condition. Wade: Substance and Process in the Abortion Debate, Margaret G. Farrell critically examines the Supreme Courtâs reasoning in Roe v. Wade, arguing that the decision's focus on substantive rights overshadowed essential procedural considerations. Farrell contends that by emphasizing a constitutional right to privacy, the Court neglected the importance of democratic deliberation and the role of legislative processes in shaping abortion policy. She advocates for a jurisprudential approach that balances individual rights with procedural legitimacy, suggesting that such a framework would better accommodate the complex ethical and social dimensions of the abortion debate.

A member of the graduating January class of 1933, GENEVA ABBOTT PATTERSON, (1916-2011) was asked at age 16…to imagine the city of St. Louis in the future, and she amazingly created a watercolor depicting the St. Louis cityscape and INCLUDED THE ST. LOUIS GATEWAY ARCH 15 YEARS BEFORE IT BECAME A CONCEPT IN THE MIND OF ITS DESIGNER, EERO SAARINEN IN 1947! The Gateway Arch was not completed until 1963. ; She added the following prophetic text spoken by Ulysses's wife Penelope from line 24 of Tennyson's Ulysses (1842): "Yet all experience is an Arch wherethro' gleams that untravell'd world, whose margin fades for ever, and for ever when I move" ; Geneva Abbott furthered her art studies at the Hadley Vocational School and became a member of the St. Louis Artists Guild. She worked as a commercial artist for International Shoe Company, and then turned to work as a watercolorist in St. Louis, Hilton Head, South Carolina and Vero Beach, Florida; the previous owner of the yearbook has added commentary and newspaper clippings of happenings to many of the senior class, some documenting the deaths of several in World War II, or by violence in St. Louis. Marriages of many of the women are recorded. Updated addresses and phone numbers of many former students are also added ; The yearbook has numerous articles written by students and show photographs and drawings in illustration. Subjects feature historical information about St. Louis, lists of artists, musicians with details of their lives and work are included ; all the artwork by the students reflects the then current Art Deco trends ; a very rare and historically important volume; and an exceedingly difficult-to-locate Saarinen collectible ; FINE.
