Based on a holographic manuscript of Cameron, written when he was 72, shortly before his death in Japan, this is the story of his travels from Scotland at age 17, in 1867, to Hawaii and over 3 oceans. Illustrated with a frontispiece and 10 other photographic plates (of an old-time luau, Honolulu harbor, etc.) and many drawings. Notes. 460 pages. Near fine in watered green silk cloth covers, with a black decorative panel on the front cover and gilt lettering on the spine. ( some spotting to the top edge of the textblock.).

Decorative endpapers in green design. Frontispiece photograph, with 10 additional photographic plates and in-text black and white drawings by Kuhn. Antique ex-library with hand-numbered and hand-dated bookplate. Mark to spine, small library stamps at corner of each plate, pocket and date-due paper to rear (appears never to have been borrowed). A bit skewed. Light silverfishing to rear board. A solid copy in good condition.
