A clearly and impartially written account of what the Canadas have to offer the prospective emigrant, including sections on the 'expense of travelling', 'extensive credit', and 'procuring employment'. Fairplay derived most of his information regarding climate, government, laws, taxes, towns, trade and condition of the soil from official inspectors' reports and other authentic sources. The work is divided into two parts, the first a general view (pp. 87), the second a sectional view by township (pp. 116), keyed to the often missing folding map, with remarks on the advantages and disadvantages of each.
