The Swedish artist (b. 1965) has a dual career identity of sorts. He is both a designer and an artist. One could say that he consciously attempts to transgress the boundaries between these two fields. Most of his art in this catalogue resemble furniture or elements of a home interior: floors, carpets, potted plants, tables, etc. They are sculpted in rough wood-based material, plastic, home textiles, or plywood board. All pieces are simplistic in their expression and void of any decorative features. Through their angular and rugged visual language: wooden blocks with saw marks or unsanded, lathed wooden rings etc, they are more accurately viewed as symbols of furniture and everyday objects, as models or representations., English/Swedish, Year2006, Illust. This catalogue presents one of KwakÆs first solo shows in Sweden. Born in South Korea, the artist established herself in Sweden a couple of years ago and has begun to take a place in the Swedish art scene. The project Girls in Uniform started as an analysis of her own growth according to different aspects of life, especially from the sociological aspect of being formed as an individual. The expression of these works is of strong intimacy of unspoken convenants between a group of initiates, and illuminates aspects of belonging and exclusion., English/ Swedish, Year2006, Illust. This book contains a collection of Anna KlebergÆs photographs ranging from 2004 to 2007. The process of depicting depictions, layer upon layer of abstractions and representations, and where various degrees of reality and meta-reality are evoked in strict and descriptive picture series where each motif is rendered with equal stature. Each picture is part of a formally equivalent series, where one outwardly bears a resemblance to the other. The thematics of her art comment on the viewerÆs cultural confinement. The images subject us to a balancing act between recognition and exoticism, and similarity and difference, where the variations are at times refined to the extreme., English/ Swedish, Year2007, Illust.
