The five scholars set out to devery good the various aspects of Pictish study then known, combining archaeology, philology and history at an authoritative, masterly but essentially readable level. This book is in great condtion for its age, it does show signs of foxing and is a former library book so has a library slip and stamp in the first couple of pages thus also has a plastic cover stuck on to protect the cover.

Hard Cover. Zustand: Very Good. This is a very good hardcover copy in brown patterned-cloth boards, generally clean inside. But pages 63- 65 have several old tears which a previous owner repaired with a clear tape. With 33 beautiful black and white, and color plates, (plate 16 absent, not published). This book expands upon a lecture that the author gave in 1892, at the Royal Institute in London, on the then popular "Japanesque" style. Piggott is most interested in tracing the development of certain motifs common in Japanese decorative arts, like wave and cloud forms, or lattice work designs, Greek key borders, etc. 11 1/2" high X 8 1/2" wide, 130 pages. This book will be securely packed and shipped with tracking.
