In den WarenkorbFirst Edition. Octavo. 20cm. Publisher's terrcotta embossed cloth over bevelled boards, titled in gilt to front board. 148pp.; [8] illustrated ads to rear. Strong and robust, scuffing and some bumping to corners, softening to spine ends and some discoloration of the spine panel, some light soiling in places; internally clean and… fresh, coated brown endpapers with the red leather booklpate of pre-eminent sporting bookdealer and bibliographer Ernest R. Gee to the front pastedown, small chip to the gutter with some loss, and a repaired closed tear to the upper edge of the front flyleaf, presentation inscription from "Will Wildwood" to upper corner of title page, otherwise bright and handsome. A very good strong copy. Inscribed by Wildwood (F.E. Pond) who edited and contributed the work after the death of Herbert, to H.M. Joralemon. The work was published simultaneously in cloth and paper wraps, with the obvious corollary that the cloth copies have endured the passage of time much better. Ernest R. Gee was the consummate pinnacle of mid-20th century sporting bookdealing, with a noticeable habit of securing copies of some of the rarest works in the field into his own library (a slippery slope for a bookdealer), his bookplate alone is often something of an assurance of collectability.
