" A treatise on the wiring and fitting up of buildings deriving current from central station mains, and the laying down of private installations including the latest edition of the Phoenix fire office rules." A tight, clean bright example, trace of rubbing at tips and gutter edge. Quite nice indeed.…

Original blue cloth with gilt lettering and slick yellow endpapers. This copy was clearly a working copy, with checkmarks in pencil throughout, and occasional browning and smudges. Cloth. An interesting reference book that shows many quackery devices and talks about how many of them work. Still, a scarce book in the marketplace and a must for anyone interested in medical electricity. The first of at least 2 editions of this work published.…

FIRST EDITION, 8vo, pp. xi, [i], 191, [1] + frontispiece. Numerous illustrations included within pagination. Original textured green cloth, boards bordered with a blind rule, spine and front board lettered in gilt. Somewhat shaken, stitching strained, boards a little marked. The first appearance of this successful manual for wiring private telephone lines, produced by the electrician Frederick Charles Allsop in response to the liberalisation of telephone exchange licenses in the 1880s. Much of the contents had been serialised as articles in English Mechanic but demand evidently remained high: a second edition was needed the following year and a fifth by the end of the century.…

Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. No Jacket. Limited. 526 pages (complete). Hand numbered 227 of a limited edition of 500 copies. Folio sized. A heavy, most handsome copy. Fully bound in leather. Gilt titling, bordering and edging. The gilt is benign and very lightly worn. The spine has five ridges. Titling and decoration are worn. The leather is also much worn. The spine is fit and healthy. The boards have storage / shelving wear about. Nonetheless, they are dignified and pleasing. Within, the tissue separators are in immaculate condition. Marbled end papers with gilt edge decoration that are in elegant, most pleasing condition. The gilt edging is a little worn but is otherwise gratifyingly smart. The contents have some amiable evidence of usage with occasional handling marks and wear, but in general and by far, the pages are wonderfully neat and tidy and amenable.
