This book is his autobiographical novel of the years between 19211931 and also gives a portray of Hungary and Transylvania of the time. Describes how Szántó gave up his hope to be a painter as an outcome of his injury in the war. Traces the stories of the most important Hungarian Avant-garde and Modernist periodicals like Ma, Periszkóp, Diogenész and Korunk. Lavish souvenir program for the New York premier of Reinhardt's renowned adaptation of Vollmöller's wordless play, illustrated throughout with color reproductions of Bel Geddes' costume and set designs. "The Miracle" was originally produced in 1911 at London's Olympia Theatre; the show traveled throughout the Continent until 1914, when it was closed due to the onset of the Great War. The 1924 American revival began as a traveling show, playing in Detroit and Milwaukee before its spectacular grand opening on at the Century Theatre on January 16th. An uncommon program, beautifully produced.

Apart from providing impressions of his spa cure, Jawlensky writes about an exhibition he has seen at Zurich ("a wonderful exhibition (French painters): Renoir, Cezanne, Van Gogh, Goguin, Monet, Delakroa, Corot and others. Amazing. But they have become so cheap! [.]" (transl.), and about future plans.

My savings would last for a little while, as I would be staying at a cheap fishing village. Here, my very existence consumes everything! and I can see when I will have reached the end [.]".

Comprehensive letters on various topics, including his physical and moral condition, prayers and thoughts, and comments on paintings ( " cet affreux métier [.] cette vie en enfer" ), painters (among others, Corot , Cézanne , Renoir, and Degas), the trial that made him the heirs of Ambroise Vollard (the " les démélés avec ces affreux bougres . m'ont dégouté de la peinture", November 1945): " Je vois que vs ne vs rendez pas bien compte de ma situation présente isolé impossible de plus en plus tout à fait - impossible [.] Aussi je suis tirbouchonné de bonne manière"; " Alleluia priez plus pour cet art bien aimé et redoutable [.] la meilleure grâce qui me fut faite ce sera d'avoir parfois prié en peignant avec quelque bonheur [.] Mon Dieu ayez pitié du pauvre émigré [.] 1871 - 1914 - 1937 [.] cela gens de peu de foi suffit il pas [.] ne parlons pas peinture on en parle trop facilement". - In addition to a letter from March 16, 1950, Rouault attaches a four sided poem entitled "Poêmes d'Ariel Testament spirituel A Bischoff pour lui porter bonheur en ces temps de hargnes picturales". - Included are also some letters etc. by the Rouault family.
