The publisher's original decorative green cloth remains structurally sound, with the elaborate gilt and black pictorial stamping on the upper board surviving in a notably bright, unoxidised state. The extremities exhibit moderate rubbing and bumping, most noticeably at the head and tail of the spine, which exhibit minor fraying to the cloth. The rear board shows mild surface soiling and a small bump to the lower corner, though this does not detract significantly from the volume's shelf presence. Internally, the text block is square and pleasingly tight, with the original all-edges-gilt remaining vibrant despite superficial scratching commensurate with age. The pages themselves are crisp and predominantly clean, presenting only very occasional, faint spots of foxing, primarily restricted to the margins. A well-preserved copy of a highly decorative binding.
