Another of the popular 'Romany' books which were adapted from the equally popular radio broadcasts made by Evens on all matters to do with the countryside & nature. He took his radio name from his Romany roots - Evens was born in a Gypsy caravan. In this book Evens travels around the countryside in his caravan, telling mainly of birds. Orange cloth boards with green lettering and illustration to spine and upper board. Spine slightly cocked. Vertical strip of tanning to half-title and back fep, foxing to edges, else a good, clean copy for its age. Good illustrated dust jacket - wear to edges and head of spine, light soiling. A charming book from the BBC's northern naturalist.

G. K. Evens (illustrator). The dustwrapper is rubbed with tape marks to both flaps and top back and front, rectangle cut out to front bottom flap, has some wear to the edges and corners, with some small rips and chips to the edges. The green boards are lightly marked to back otherwise clean, with some bumping to the edges, with blue spine. Lightly tanned with foxing to page edges, foxing to inside covers, massage and name to ffep dated 1941. The binding is firm. The pages appear clean and crease free. This book has 182 pages. All in all a nice example of this book.
