With this album, we share our experience and knowledge. Whether professional or amateur, we feel there is tremendous joy and satisfac- tion in the preparation and presentation of vocal duets. The duets chosen are just a sample of the extraordinarily rich two-voiced repertoire, most of which is virtually unknown and therefore unperformed. The selection of duets in six languages, in varying styles, was intentional. We wished to show the broad scope of material available. All of the English translations of these songs are our own. They are quite literal because we feel that a literal translation gives the performing artist a true picture of the emotional con- tent of the song. Brief dramatic and interpretive suggestions precede each duet. However, it is not our inten- tion to impose only our own personal interpretation. We feel that our suggestion.
