Eugene Michel Joseph Abot (1836-1894) is a French engraver. He studied printmaking techniques under Gucherel, in Paris. He illustrated a number of books (including Edgar Allan Poe's The Murders in the Rue Morgue) as well as contributing etchings to periodicals like L'Art and the Gazette des Beaux-Arts. He also created etchings after the designs of contemporary French and American artists. Fritz von Uhde (1848 - 1911, was a German painter who was particularly interested in the Dutch painters from the 16th and 17th century.Condition: Good, given age. Some soiling in the margins, a restored tear in upper right corner. Faint ghosting around the image (from matting). General age-related toning and/or occasional minor defects from handling.
