Vintage reference photograph of Joel Coen behind the camera on the set of the 1987 film. Joel and Ethan Coen's slapstick, madcap second film was as far removed from their first, the 1984 neo-noir "Blood Simple," as is conceivable, but equally as brilliant, firmly establishing them as one of the most distinctive filmmakers to come out of the 1980s. Recidivist criminal H.I. (Nicolas Cage) and police officer Ed (Holly Hunter) fall in love over time as Ed photographs H.I.'s many mugshots. The couple marry but can't have children, and when they hear about the famous "Arizona Quints," they figure the family can spare one. Featuring one of the most memorable chase sequences in film history. Shot on location throughout Arizona. 8 x 10 inches. Very faint dampstaining to top margin, else Near Fine.

Manuskript / Papierantiquität
Draft script for the 1994 film, copy belonging to Dan Mazur, creative executive to Twentieth Century-Fox producer Lawrence Gordon for the film. The Coen brothers' paean to the films of Frank Capra, Howard Hawks, and Preston Sturges, wherein Norville Barnes, a decent but naive mailroom clerk is secretly chosen by ruthless members of the company's board to be the company's president after the founder's suicide, in an attempt to depress the company's stocks and secretly gain control. The script was originally conceived shortly shortly after Joel Coen worked as assistant editor on Sam Raimi's 1981 film "The Evil Dead," and was reportedly completed by the Coen brothers and Sam Raimi in 1985. Production didn't begin however until 1991 following the success of the Coen brothers' 1991 film "Bartin Fink." Heralded for its visual effects and production design, including a scale model of New York City, the film was the Coen brothers' then-biggest budget to date. Originally released to mixed reviews, the film has since been reappraised and is now considered a cult classic. Nominated for the Palme d'Or. Shot on location in Chicago, Illinois and North Carolina. Untitled lavender wrappers. Title page present, dated 1992, with credits for screenwriters Joel Coen, Ethan Coen, and Sam Raimi. 126 leaves, with last page of text numbered 125. Xerographic duplication, rectos only. Pages Near Fine, wrapper Very Good plus, bound with two silver brads.

Based largely on the experiences of playwright and erstwhile screenwriter Clifford Odets. Winner of the Palme d'Or, Best Actor, and Best Director awards at the 1991 Cannes Film Festival, and nominated for three Academy Awards in 1992. 10 x 8 inches. Near Fine. Grant US.
