As a fighter-bomber pilot, Smith flew Spitfires in 90 missions, a third of which were bombing attacks. Following the war in 1946, he became one of the world's first jet pilots, flying Gloster Meteors with 74 Squadron. Vor allem aber können wir auch ihre wunderbar zwischen Natur und Kunst balancierende Zeichnung eines Gorillas und viele andere Tierzeichnungen betrachten. Anatomische Genauigkeit mischt die Künstlerin mit einem System aus Schraffuren und Punkten, das einzigartig ist.
