Here is another new listing found digging around in my many totes of books collected over the decade (stay tuned for many more too!). Please find: Dive Bomber Learning to Fly the Navy s Fighting Pl…anes by Robert A. Winston- Ensign U.S.N.R. The book was illustrated by Walter E. Dothard who prepared the lovely color title page and many small drawings embedded in the text. This small hard cover book (6 x 8 ¼ inches 191 pages the last few of which are a glossary of aeronautical terms-expressions and colloquialisms ) was published by Holiday House of New York City dated 1939 and the First Edition with the same date on title and copyright pages. The book is bound in yellow cloth with red titles and designs on cover and spine. Condition: This book is in very good condition. The hard covers are a bit dust-dulled and the boards show some darkening on the edges where they come in contact with the reader s hands. The covers are a bit canted to the right. Inside the book is unmarked and the pages and drawings are clean and bright throughout. The endpapers are a bit toned, probably from the effect of the acid in the binding glues. Both hinges are intact, and the binding is tight and sound. This book is not ex-library or a remainder.

Boards have light shelf-wear present…to the extremities. No ownership marks present. Text is clean and free of marks. Binding tight and solid. A well-written account of pre-WW II naval aviation training. Robert Winston was a Navy Ace with 5 Aerial Victories to his credit. Born in Washington Indiana in 1907, he graduated from Indiana University in 1930, and worked for both the New York Times and New York News from 1930-1935.; 8vo 8" - 9" tall.
