In a half morocco binding, with gilt detailing to back strip, and marbled paper covered boards. A touch of rubbing to back strip head and tail, otherwise externally lovely. Front hinge lightly strained. Internally, firmly bound. Pages significantly age toned, with the odd spot. Very Good. book.

Approximately 143 x 90 mm, 5¾ x 3½ inches, original black roan spine, marbled boards, gilt title to spine in double ruled gilt frame, pages: (4), 36, 36, 36, 36. Double sided advert leaf for Elliott's works bound after general title page. Each of the 4 stories has a title page, a delightful folding copper plate frontispiece, image size 118 x 160 (4½" x 6¼"), plus 2 engraved plates. Spine and corners slightly worn, a little marbled paper chipped off along board edges, rear endpaper removed, occasional very neat ink correction to error in French text, very little pencil scribble erased from a couple of margins, early inscriptions on endpapers, tiny chip to lower margin of 1 folding plate.
