Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Six photos including frontis of the author and her family, 6.25 x 4.25", blue cloth, gilt lettering, 96pp. Small ink(?) stain on front cover, spine tips and corners bumped and worn, textblock cracked, one photo detached and has chipped edges else good. On her health she writes "Some wonder how I can be happy in my condition It is the sunlight of God in my soul that makes me happy. In fact many pleasures come to me through the five senses, of which I have full use. Then too, I have good use of my hands and can work and earn a living." Eliza Suggs may have been one of the first, if not the first disabled black woman to have her writing published. Extremely SCARCE FIRST EDITION. …
