Hardcover. Zustand: Fair. Stated First Edition; First Printing. Softcover with orange heavy stock paper wraps. Covers are soiled and stained, as are the page edges. There is some staining and soiling to the contents, but the text block is tight and the covers are complete. There is a musty odor to the book, though. ; Stated first edition with a run of 3,000 copies. The front cover has an alphabetical listing of some of the topics for Greifer's poetry and page numbers. On page two and continued on the inside of the rear cover is an index of first words and the ratings his "four blindfolded readers" gave each poem. The book is divided alphabetically into topics (eg "anger", "docility"). For each topic Greifer gives a few quotations from the "masters" (famous poets) and then his own poetry. Written just after WWII, there are a lot of poems concerning anti-semitism, racism, Nazis and hatred. Greifer (1902 - 1966) was considered to be an early proponent of using poetry as a therapeutic tool for treating patients with mental illness. ; 12mo 7 1/2" x 4 3/4"; 128 pages.
