Please note: utensil decorations are missing from the green fabric b…ookmarks. Clean pages and illustrations with noticeable tanning and foxing throughout. More pronounced to free endpapers and pastedowns. Occasional faint thumbing. Binding remains firm. Small spot to edge of last few pages. Boards have mild edge wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Intense sunning to spine and edges with subtle crushing to spine ends. Lettering is clear. Minor wear marks to boards. Unclipped jacket. Panels and spine have light edge wear, tears and creases. Slight loss to spine ends. Intense surface wear, loss and surface corrosion to front panel & spine; some scratching to rear.

Hardback, 8vo. pictorial cloth, 69 pp. printed in black with red recipe headings on parchment coloured paper, 3 folding pages o…f historical manuscripts, illustrations by the author, covers sunned and marked, contents v.g. and complete with two green silk book markers no dust wrapper. An eccentric item of recipes, little histories, gossipy notes etc. The author was innovative in her table decorations using birds in cages, bowls of freshly gathered vegetables, the heads of lobsters standing upright on a dish surrounded by parsley etc. The recipes are very much of the Edwardian country house genre but the menus are adapted to the Mediterranean climate. She also once rented a flat in Escoffier's villa and used to sit with Mme. Escoffier and listened to many tales of the great chef's experiences in many lands.
