Text body is clean, and free from previous owner annotation, underlining and highlighting. Binding is tight, covers and spine fully intact, bar wear to spine ends and corners. Printed for the author by J. B. Lippincott & Co. Brown gilt stamped and illustrated cloth over beveled boards, signed and inscribed by the author on the front free end paper, 251 pages. Corners and spine ends bumped with wear, gilt on spine is worn and of little faded, first signature slightly detached at head of spine, interior pages moderately toned. The author dedicated this book to his brother, William H. Frear, "the only brother of the writer", and a famous Troy, New York businessman for whom Troy's Frear Park is named. From the Preface: "This writing is not attempted with any view of literary ends, nor as aspiring to doubtful book fame, but is only intended to be the history of three months of foreign travel; its chief aim being to give the friends of the writer some readable and tangible evidence of the same."
