This is an original estate sale catalogue for the sale for Himley Hall and The Himley Estates in Staffordshire in January 1947, the catalogue is a large folio format measuring 15 inches tall approx., running to 71 numbered pages, with illustrations, also housed in a rear pocket are three numbered folding coloured plans / maps. The covers are showing general creasing wear, noticeable staining to lower edge of rear cover, a previous owner has strengthened the spine with Sellotape, internally the text block has separated from the covers, with more tape strengthening to inside of covers around the spine area. The stitching to the text block has separated on the lower half with pages separating on the lower part (see pictures) the rear map pocket glued ends are unstuck, else condition as seen.…

According to the title-page the library comprises 'Topographical and Genealogical Books, County Histories, including Nash's Worcestershire. Plot's Staffordshire. Dugdale's Warwickshire. Hutchins's Dorset. Whitelaw's Dublin. Berry's Genealogies. Publications of learned societies, etc.' In manuscript at head of title: 'MARKED CATALOGUE - PRICES REALISED'. Neatly priced throughout (but not named), with page totals carried forward and additional lots added in manuscript, both on the pages of the catalogue (for example, an extra eight lots on p.3) and in two pages of manuscript added at the end. The final printed lot in the catalogue is '206 etc. About 1,500 volumes of books in all classes of literature to be sold in convenient lots', with the manuscript note 'see attached lists'. The manuscript relots 206 with 206A to 206P, and adds lots 207 to 217A, giving a grand total of £555 12s 6d. Scarce: no copy on COPAC or WorldCat. …
