In den WarenkorbFirst Edition. Legal Insiders' Copy of Legal Satire: A Choice Dooley Association Linking a Future Virginia Supreme Court Justice and a Wall Street Corporate Powerhouse Dunne, Finley Peter, (1867-1936). Bander, Edward J., Compiler. Mr. Dooley on the Choice of Law. Charlottesville, Virginia: Michie Co., [1963]. Octavo. xxvi, 231 pp. First edition. Publisher's green cloth. Text clean and bright. A very good copy in a worn, good dust jacket that is split at the front spine fold. Inscribed on the front free endpaper: "To Roger B. Oresman / from / Roscoe B. Stephenson / Jany. 20 1965." A superb thematic collection of Finley Peter Dunne's legendary "Mr. Dooley" columns, specifically curated to lampoon the absurdities, archaic language, and financial greed of the American judicial system. In a delightfully ironic twist of provenance, this volume mocking the legal establishment was exchanged between two of its most elite pillars. The inscriber, Roscoe B. Stephenson Jr. (1922-2011), was a prominent Virginia prosecutor who had just returned to private practice in January 1965 before his eventual ascension as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia (1981-1997). The recipient, Roger B. Oresman (1920-2010), was a powerhouse Wall Street corporate lawyer and 50-year partner at the prestigious "white-shoe" firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. A sharp association copy linking a future Southern high court justice with a prominent Manhattan corporate attorney over classic American legal satire. $125. Inscribed on the front free endpaper: "To Roger B. Oresman / from / Roscoe B. Stephenson / Jany. 20 1965." Stephenson (1922-2011) was a prominent Virginia lawyer who later served as a Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia (1981-1997). The recipient, Roger B. Oresman (1920-2010), was a longtime partner at the prestigious New York firm Milbank, Tweed, Hadley & McCloy. A compelling association copy linking a future Southern high court justice with a prominent Wall Street corporate attorney, centered appropriately on a collection of classic legal satires. $75. xxvi, 231 pp. Publisher's green cloth, very good, in worn, good dust jacket, detached at hinge. Previous owner's presentation inscription to the front free endpaper: "To Roger B. Oresman/ from/ Roscoe B. Stephenson/.…
