Part I contains the odes, epodes, and the Carmen seculare plus 3 appendices (on unknown names; Horace's use of the complementary infinitive with verbs and adjectives; and an index to the meters). Part II consists of notes to all the works herein. Wickham (1834-1910) was an Anglican priest and scholar best known for his editions of Horace. This copy with two marks of ownership: H. Y. Lauder, Pembroke College, Oxford; and, Herbert A. Strong, University College, Liverpool, (and again as H. A. Strong, University Melbourne) both of whom, apparently, have annotated this copy in both ink and pencil. Herbert A. Strong (1841-1918), Australian scholar and professor of comparative philology at Melbourne University, appointed in 1872. In 1884 Strong became professor of Latin at the newly founded University College in Liverpool and held the chair until his retirement in 1909. Mills College Check List 1706.
