Bound in red cloth with lettering in gilt on spine. Mapped end-papers. Fold-out genealogy table. Square, tig…ht and generally clean throughout with little or no wear. Some errant spotting to the prelims but no interior toning. Small, neat ownership signature and date on the front end-paper. Very attractive unclipped dust-jacket, (21 s. net) has some gentle surface rubbing and a pen mark on the top of the front flap. Still fresh and bright with no chipping, creases or tears. Signed by the editor on the title page. A very pretty collectable copy of an uncommon title on this side of the Atlantic, especially signed.

Bordered in gilt. 5 raised bands on spine blocked in gilt with gilt titles in 2nd and 3rd compartments and date at the bottom. To…p edge gilt. Marbled end-papers. Tissue guarded frontis illustration of the author at work in volume one and 15 additional original steel etchings by R. de Los Rios. An essay of the author's life and works by Henri Van Laun precedes the text. All volumes square and tight with strong hinges. Rubbing to hinges and extremities. Short splits to the front hinges at the crown in all volumes; likely from careless pulling from the shelf. But still all quite firm and secure. Very light foxing to fore-edges to volume one but only an errant spot or two in the others. Maybe just a hint of page toning. A spot or two on the cloth here and there. Bookseller ticket for Marks & Co. on front paste-down of volume one. A handsome collectable and uncommon set and at a great price.
