Hardcover. Zustand: Fair. 1st Edition. Three Little Pigs, Mouseykins and Dog Toby (all 1929) and Teeny-weeny Tales (1930). Square 64mo's, unpaginated, approx pp70 each Volume with b/w illustrations throughout each. All volumes bound with pictorial paper covered boards in fair to good condition with chipping, rubbing and splits with pieces missing to 3 of the spines. There is rubbing to all edges and some marking to fore edges. Inside some cracking to spines, however all bindings still holding. All pages in volumes in surprisingly clean condition with a little yellowing and the odd mark. Mrs Herbert Strang was actually the pseudonym of of George Herbert Ely (1866-1958) & C James L'Estrange (1867-1947) who were staff members of the Oxford University Press.

Soft cover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Poor. With Eight Plates in Colour (illustrator). Undated annual probably late 1930's. Inscribed pen inscription to previous owner in ink school prize dated December 1940. Tightly bound with illustrated cloth boards and matching jacket illustration. Closed page edges exhibit natural tanning. Minor shelf wear present with scuffed and chipped jacket edges. Jacket back cover has a single closed tear and large crease present. The cover and jacket illustration show a girl sitting at the wheel of a motor car.

Lodge, Grace (illustrator). little rubbing/chipping to edges/spine, a little splitting/slight loss to edges of spine, minor scuffing/soiling, some ink marks to front. Contents generally good with occasional splitting to hinges, back endpaper missing, very minor soiling. Both tableaux intact and in good condition with minor rubbing to edges. Gift inscription to ffep. Charming B&W illustrations by Grace Lodge throughout. Includes two colourful fold-out tableaux of a village street with various traditional shops, one at the front and one at the back which, including the covers of the book make a continuous panoramic view measuring just over 61'' in total. Originally, it came with at least 4 little card figures, but these are not present. 2 children visit the fictional village of Hatherby during their holidays, and find out what is available in the various shops there. A very quaint glimpse of life in an English village in the 1930s/40s.

Hardcover. 8°. Original hard back cover, front cover and spine are illustrated in color. The cover is edge-bushed, scraped and stained on the back cover, the burst outer joints have been reglued. Around 60 unpaginated pages in extra large type, illustrated in color and monochrome. One page with missing upper corner, the edges were backed with acidic filmoplast, some image loss. Rear endpaper missing, front with previous owner's entry in ink. Cuts and a few page edges are slightly stained. Outside rather mediocre, inside still in good condition. --- Original-Pappband, Vorderdeckel und Rücken sind farbig illustriert. Der Einband ist randbestoßen, abgeschabt und am Hinterdeckel fleckig, die geplatzten Außengelenke wurden nachgeleimt. Etwa 60 unpaginierte Seiten in extra großer Schrift, farbig und einfarbig illustriert. Ein Blatt mit fehlender oberer Ecke, die Ränder wurden dort mit säurehaltigem Filmoplast hinterlegt, etwas Bildverlust. Hinterer Vorsatz fehlt, vorn mit Vorbesitzereintrag in Tinte. Schnitte und wenige Seitenränder sind etwas fleckig. Worn copy in tan boards with color illustration mounted on the front cover, decorative printing and designs in red, illustrated endpapers, about 100 pages. Covers heavily rubbed and unevenly age-darkened, some spotting, hinges internally cracked, text block shaken, one plate detached but present, occasional finger smudges to margins, a few inconsequential corner chips, no names or other markings. First Edition. Hard Cover. Fair. 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall.

FIRST EDITION circa 1920, in the Unbreakable Books series, 153 x 143 mm, 6 x 5½ inches, colour illustrated boards with shepherdess and lambs by Isabel Saul to upper cover, lower cover with 11th illustration by Sowerby of little girl playing tennis and puppy running off with the ball. Plus 10 wonderful colour plates all by Sowerby, each with a rhyming couplet below: 'If you put a shell against your ear,/The sea will roar quite loud and clear; I'm having a bathe with Mummy and Kit./Do you think I'm frightened? Not a bit!' etc., plates mounted on thick board pages bound with linen straps. The images are of beautifully dressed young children at the seaside, in the country, in the street, in the nursery, saying their prayers, fishing dolly from the pond, looking through a telescope by the sea-wall. Very slight wear to corners, small scrape to edge of lower cover, tiny scrape to edge of upper cover. A very good plus copy of an uncommon Sowerby title.
