"In his own words, one of American cinema's most incorrigible mavericks reflects on a brilliant career. This is the definitive study of one of America's greatest filmmakers." In den WarenkorbSoft cover. Zustand: Good. Reprint. Paperback. Of all Hardy's novels Tess provides a particularly interesting example of the extent to which Hardy was obliged to bow to the dictates of late-Victorian morality. This volume, therefore, includes extensive textual notes which register the most significant variations between the text as first published in a family paper in 1891 and that of the 1912 'definitive' edition (reprinted here). These notes reveal not only Hardy's response to the dictates of Mrs. Grundy, but also his careful and extensive rewriting of this major novel. Crease on back cover.Paperback. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).

In den WarenkorbCloth. Zustand: Fine. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Near Fine. Ultimate Edition. Hardback. First Edition. This edition marks the final appearance (for the time being) of Pick of Punch - a historic moment in the annals of British humour, no less. Having just celebrated 150 years of continuous publication and grown increasingly skittish under its youngest-ever-editor, Punch sailed off into the sunset in April 1992. Punch was the first to use the word 'cartoon' for a comic drawing, and the 'ultimate edition' of Pick of Punch gives pride of place to many of today's finest cartoonists. Reminiscing about the days when they worked on Punch - before they grew up and became important - are Michael Parkinson, Malcolm Bradbury, Simon Hoggart, Katherine Whitehorn, Gerald Carfe, Russell Davis and the evergreen Alan Coren. This book: it's the last word in a long tradition. Don't miss it! Illustrated. 208 pp. (We carry a wide selection of titles in The Arts, Theology, History, Politics, Social and Physical Sciences. academic and scholarly books and Modern First Editions ,and all types of Academic Literature.).
