This book is depicting the sarcophagy of Saint Henrik from the beginning of1500. The copy was acquired by the Finnish Nationalmuseum for their very first exhibition app. 1910. It is made of copper plates and the embossings depict the history of King Erik and bishop Henrik in their journey to pagan Finland for conversion to the Catholic church. During the journey the bishop was killed by Finnish peasant Lalli on the ice of Lake K÷yli÷. All texts is taken from the legend of Saint Henrik which has been transferred from mouth to mouth during the centuries and was compiled by the first Finnish ethnologists in the1900Æs.The sarcophagy is situated in the church in Nousiainen (South-West part of Finland)., Finnish, Year1996, Illust.
