Blue cloth covers generally clean but darkened towards top and to sp., sp.ends sl.rubbed, outer corners sl.bumped, black ink lib.number lower sp. A very sound copy despite faults. Produced under the aegis of the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace. Division of Economic and History (as across top of t.p.). Coverage of numerous war-induced epidemics from the Thirty Years War onwards including typhus and small-pox, Napoleonic and Franco-German wars receive much attention and there is a chapter on epidemics in six 'besieged strongholds'. Fairly uncommon.
