Hardcover. Zustand: Good. Lionel Smith became something of a legend in his own lifetime, despite what appears to have been a rather conventional, if successful, career. The eldest son of an Oxford don he eventually became Rector of Edinburgh Academy, followed by 27 years of 'uncreative retirement'. By nature generous, tolerant and interested in mankind, wishging most of them well. Cover fade and pages browned but clean. Inked inscription on inside front page.
