Green cloth cover. xlvii+510; college library plate to front pastedown, withdran stamp, bookseller's label and faint trace of loansheet (?) edge to front endpaper, no further internal library, or any other, marking bar a small 1968 date stamp on end pastedown, dust traces top edge, covers clean, bright and unworn but white lib.number to bottom spine; double-clipped jacket otherwise generally clean but a little rubbing/nicking to top edge and spine sun faded from red almost to white, sun-fading strip also across top back (will add protective sleeve when ordered). A fairly scarce and important work issued in the Classics in Anthropology series, Needham's introductory essay and biography+bibliography of the author was a major contribution, rescuing him from undeserved obscurity and negect. As the provenance marking is essentially confined to first opening this remains a very acceptable copy. …
