In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. First Edition. First edition - first printing - published in 1946 as stated on the printer's page. This seventh and final volume of Churchill's war speeches was published just after the Second World War had come to a close a few months earlier. Illustrated with sixteen black and white plates in the centre of the book. ***Very good in blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine, and gilt lining to the front board. The gilt is still beautifully bright, having been protected by the dustwrapper. The boards are clean and unmarked, just slightly creased at the top of the spine and at the top corner tips. The boards are quite thin, and the top corner crease has affected some of the pages, but not very noticeably (please see scans). No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Page block edges slightly foxed. Internally also very good with no previous ownership marks. There is none of the usual off-setting to the endpapers, just some light foxing, but this doesn't affect the interior pages. The interior of the book is extremely clean. No creases or tears. ***In a very good printed dustwrapper, which is almost complete, but which has some loss at the bottom of the spine (affecting the lettering) and a little loss at the top of the spine and top edge of the back panel. There is also some general rubbing and creasing to the edges, but no serious creases or tears. Spine unfaded. Back panel slightly marked and stained (please see scans). The dustwrapper has not been price-clipped, but has the printed price of 6/- net next to the blacked-out original publisher's printed price of 7s. 6d. net on the front flap. ***96 printed pages. 220mm x 145mm. ***'There were occasions during the war when Parliament went into Secret Session to receive information from the Prime Minister which it was considered vital to keep from the enemy. The speeches--unrecorded and unpublished at the time--in which Mr. Churchill imparted these weighty State secrets, are now published in their entirety. --- Of especial interest to all who see this book will be the facsimile of the notes from which Mr. Churchill delivered one of these speeches, of which no typed or printed record now exists. This volume forms an essential companion to the collected war speeches of Mr. Winston Churchill; it is in itself an unique historical record.' (Quote taken from the back panel of the dustwrapper) ***A first printing of the true first edition - published in 1946. Of interest to collectors of Winston Churchill related works. First and early printings in the original dustwrappers are very hard to come by now. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate.

In den WarenkorbHardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. First Edition. First edition - second printing - published in November, 1942 - stated on the printer's page as the Second Edition. This second volume of Churchill's war speeches was published at the height of the conflict in June, 1942, with this second printing appearing a few months later. The complete set of speeches wasn't fully published until 1946, with the publication of the final (seventh) volume "Secret Session Speeches". Illustrated with five black and white plates including a frontispiece portrait photographs of Churchill. ***Very good in blue cloth-covered boards with gilt titles to the spine. The gilt is still beautifully bright, having been protected by the dustwrapper. The boards are clean and unmarked, just slightly creased at the top of the spine. Corners sharp. No reading lean to the binding. Spine tight. Page block edges slightly foxed. Internally also very good with no previous ownership marks. There is none of the usual off-setting to the endpapers, and also none of the usual foxing to the interior pages. The interior of the book is extremely clean. No creases or tears. The paper stock is notably thinner than Volume 1 which shows how wartime paper shortages were kicking in by late 1942. ***In a very good printed dustwrapper, which is almost complete, but which has slight loss at the head of the spine (not affecting the lettering) and a triangular chip at the bottom edge of the back panel. There is also some general rubbing and creasing to the edges, but no serious creases or tears (please see scans). Spine colour remarkably unfaded. Back panel somewhat grubby (being a white background). The dustwrapper has been neatly square price-clipped on the front flap. ***349 printed pages. 220mm x 145mm. ***'This volume contains the chief speeches of the Prime Minister from November, 1940, to the end of 1941, thus containing the series begun in "Into Battle." Once again the House of Cassell considers itself honoured by being charged with the publication of the Prime Minister's utterances.' (Quote taken from the back panel of the dustwrapper) ***An early second printing of the true first edition - published only a few months after the original first printing. Of interest to collectors of Winston Churchill related works. Early printings in the wartime dustwrappers are very hard to come by now. ***For all our books, postage is charged at cost, allowing for packaging: any shipping rates indicated on ABE are an average only: we will reduce the P & P charge where appropriate.
