In den WarenkorbCloth. Zustand: Very Good Indeed. None (illustrator). A scarce work documenting the research of E. Stackpool O'Dell and his wife in the field of phrenology, with handwritten notes presenting their findings. Scarce work.Bound in the publisher's original red cloth. This fascinating work contains the phrenological research of husband and wife duo, Edward and Florence Stackpool O'Dell. During this study, the O'Dell's presented multiple charts of character through analysing the relationship between skull contours and personality, a practice known as phrenology. This particular study was undertaken with many different test subjects, with this copy assessing Harold Eaton Hart. With thirty pages of handwritten notes detailing the O'Dell's findings, to the rear of the work, with information relating to 'Size of Head', 'Self-Esteem', 'Hope' and more.Gaining popularity in the late nineteenth century, this psychological theory is now largely criticised, with modern MRI studies taken place to disprove it. With the occasional stamp of The O'Dells' London Phrenological Institution. Bound in the publisher's original red cloth. Externally, excellent, with light marking to the cloth, including some small puncture marks, heavier to the rear. Ink inscription to front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. First few pages are age toned, but clean. Otherwise pages are bright and clean, with the odd stamp. Handwritten note to title page and final thirty pages, as is expected. Very Good Indeed. signed by author. book.
