Hardcover. Zustand: Fair. No Jacket. Ernest Griset (illustrator). Decorated green and black boards. 19.5cm x 13.5cm. 346pp. Presumed First Edition. 6 monochrome illustrations, of which 2 are missing. The boards are loose, though still intact, and show much user-wear, fading and staining. A previous owner has ink-written his name, dated 1888. Internally, the front endpapers, title page and preface are detached, as are the last 2 pages. Otherwise clean, if a little browned at the edges. A fair copy of a very scarce book of stories about fairies, elves & sprites. All our 'Seller Images' show the actual item you will receive.

Publisher's maroon, gilt extra and black decorated boards in a lively manner. All edges gilt. Slt mark to front cover, Edges boards slty rubbed of a little colour, tail edge spine ver slty frayed. Very slty shaken in case, occas. slt text marking, Inscription on end paper reading "Joan Abbott, March 1907" but probably published circa 1890 as this has the Novello devices instead of the Dalziel ones, has no ads. and is in maroon cum brown cloth. Not that it matters much as most issues seem to be almost identical. With many fine woodcut illustrations printed by the Dalziel Brothers. A VERY pleasing copy.

This book contains "pleasant dreams and strange thoughts which have come to [him] whilst drowsily reclining in your[his favorite arm-chair's] arms", which equates to 5 stories.
