Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - Holography has matured over the years since it was first invented by Dennis Gabor and further developed by many workers during the last decade. With some applications a commercial reality and many more continually appearing, it is now possible to compile a volume devoted to the applications of holography. This book consists primarily of papers presented at the second U.S. Japan Seminar on holography, held in Washington, D.C., from October 20-27, 1969, under the auspices of the National Academy of Sciences, National Science Foundation, and the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science. In addition to most of the papers presented at the seminar, several others are included because they cover important applications which are appropriate to this volume. Attendance at the seminar was limited to ten delegates from each country; these delegates being chosen so as to permit the seminar to include as wide a range of subjects as possible, with each delegate being recognized as an authority in his particular field of holography. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - This is the second volume on 'Optical Information Processing' within the scope of the US-USSR Science Cooperation Program co sponsored by the US National Science Foundation and the USSR Acad emy of Sciences Siberian Branch. Volume I was published in 1976, also by Plenum Press, and con tained the papers presented by a group of US and USSR scientists at the First US-USSR Science Cooperation Seminar 'Optical Informa tion Processing' held at the US National Academy of Sciences in Washington, D. C. from 16 to 20 June 1975. The seminar was followed by a series of visits to US scientific research laboratories and universities, to which the visiting USSR scientists were escorted bv Dr. W. E. Kock and Dr. G. W. Stroke. The visits included Bell Laboratories, IBM Thomas J. Watson Research Laboratory and M. I. T. , as reported in detail in the FOREWORD of Volume I. Volume II now presents the papers presented by another group of US and USSR scientists, some having participated in the first seminar: this series of papers was presented at the Second US-USSR Science Cooperation Seminar on 'Optical Information Processing' held at the USSR Academy of Sciences Siberian Branch Institute of Auto mation and Electrometry in the famous 'science city' of Akademgorodok, near Novosibirsk in Siberia, USSR from 10 to 16 July 1976.

Nevertheless, in the long run, long range and long term solutions must be found taking into account the effects of one country or region on another as well as of the inter-action between the different types of pollution over extended periods of time. It was the purpose of the Tel Aviv meeting on Pollution: Engineering and Scientific Solutions, to address presently known or foreseeable 'environmental insults;' that is, to focus on those aspects of air, noise, land, water or any other environmental quality for which there already exist engineering, scientific, legal or other solutions. Consequently, people from all disci plines which are relevant to environmental problems and their solutions were invited to participate.
