Three items pertaining to real estate transfer and records in New York, including a pamphlet with a section pertaining to the difficulties of doing a title search in New York City and with a recommendation for the admirably practical aspects of the newly enacted New Zealand Land Transfer Act (1870 New Zealand Act). The author proposes using a system based on keeping records of the titles to land as opposed to an index of names of title owners, and commends the 1870 New Zealand Act as setting up the best system for doing so (pp 17 -25). Olmstead notes the difficulty of doing a City title search due to the huge increase in the number of records.
