Louise Durbin worked as a freelance writer based out of Washington, D.C. in the 1970s. She held a position as a staff writer for the Washington Post, which she left in order to work as public relations director for the Corcoran Museum. She eventually pursued writing full time, writing for magazines, radio programs, and television documentaries, as well as writing two books, Inaugural Cavalcade and White House Brides. She graduated from Colorado College in 1945. Ms. Durbin died May 12, 1997. The discussion of Theodore Roosevelt's inauguration focuses on the ceremony after his election to a full term.
