Hardcover. Zustand: Fair. No Jacket. 1st Edition. A fascinating book, translated from the French. 1st ed. In good overall condition, bound in a mustard cloth with silver lettering and motifs to the boards and spine. The title on the upper is worn slightly. No dust jacket, probably as published. Cloth boards are soiled and worn b…ut in fairly good condition. The corners have some bumping and wear, and the spine shows wear to the crown and foot but minor. The binding is tight. Pages have occasional marks throughout but illustrations are all intact. Edges are soiled and tanned. The crazed designed end-papers are slightly tanned around the edges. The half-title page is tanned but has the signature in pencil of (Sir) "Muirhead Bone,1910", the famous Scottish etcher, watercolourist and War artist, who probably used this work in his studies of horse anatomy, in his Glasgow series, for example.
