Undated as issued, from the author of Tales of the Wonder Club, published in 1902, this is the First Edition of this tale set in medieval Spain at the time of the Spanish inquisition with a Wizard, and a Cloak of Invisibility and the magical power of flight, the book features very attractive pictorial covers with gold and silver decoration, page edges brightly gilded all-round, illustrated with full page illustrations by the author. 7.5 inches tall approx. figured in Locke Spectrum of Fantasy. Mild edge rubbing wear, some rubbing and light marking to covers, internally some occasional handling marks and light foxing else in nice general condition.

First edition. Three volumes. Publisher's original plum cloth with titles in gilt to the upper boards and spine. Illustrated throughout by John Jellicoe and Val Prince after designs by the author. A superb near fine set, the bindings square and tight with only light rubbing to the extremities and a little fading to the spine of volume I. The contents of each are clean throughout and without previous owner's inscriptions or stamps. Pages mostly uncut throughout the three volumes.
