Devido ao seu tamanho nanométrico, estas partículas atravessam as barreiras biológicas, desde a boca até ao intestino. Este trabalho avalia o impacto toxicoló…gico de duas misturas de nanopartículas (NPs): TiO¿/Ag e SiO¿/Ag sobre Escherichia coli, uma bactéria representativa da flora intestinal. Uma estirpe clínica foi isolada por coprocultura, identificada (API 20E) e depois exposta a diluições de NPs (0,125-1024 ¿g/ml). As placas de Petri em meio Hecktoen mostraram alterações fenotípicas após 24 horas de incubação a 37°C: crescimento reduzido, colónias mais pequenas, alterações morfológicas, perda de mobilidade e variações no agrupamento. Em determinadas concentrações (2 ¿g/mL TiO¿/Ag, 4 ¿g/mL SiO¿/Ag), foram observadas alterações genómicas (coloração de Gram), sugerindo um potencial desequilíbrio na microbiota intestinal. Esses resultados destacam a necessidade de mais estudos usando análise molecular (extração de DNA, sequenciamento) para entender melhor as mutações induzidas por NPs.
