America had its own youthful icons: Jack Kennedy, whose all-too-brief Presidency was internationally mourned; his glamorous consort Jacqueline; style doyen Tom Wolfe. It also had flower power, Woodstock, the space race, and Viet Nam. Pot, free love, and long hair were the totems of young people everywhere. -- The Sixties lets the decade speak for itself, presenting a year-by-year view of the times as they took form in the pages of the international editions of Vogue, perhaps the greatest iconmaker of all. Stars, celebrities, and famous figures of all walks of life appear, many in surprisingly early photographs, identified by their original captions.
