In den WarenkorbLeather. Zustand: Very Good. A smart medical Sammelband offering scarce 19th-century French studies on the nervous system, including a rare offprint written by prominent professor of neurology, Joseph Babinski. An impressive Sammelband comprising nine very scarce French medical works. Hysterie et Traumatisme, De L'Apoplexie Hysterique signed by the author. Half titles to De L'Apoplexie Hysterique and Du Role du Reve. Comprising the following texts: Hysterie et Traumatisme: Paralysies, Contractures, Arthralgies, Hystero-traumatiques by Paul Berbez(1887) De L'Apoplexie Hysterique by Charles Achard (1887) - Achard was a French internist who notably wrote one of the earliest studies on post-mortem microbial analysis based on forensic biology. Atrophie Musculaire: D'Origine Cerebrale, avec Integrite des Cornes Anterieures de la Moelle et des Nergs Moteurs by M. Babinski (Undated) - Joseph Babinski was a French-Polish professor of neurology, best known for his 1896 description of the Babinski sign. In 1896, at a meeting of the Société de Biologie, Babinski, in a 26-line presentation, delivered the first report on the "phenomène des orteils", or the reversal of the plantar reflex. The present three-page extract, also taken from the Societe de Biologie's minutes, discusses muscle atrophy. Publications du Progres Medical: Recherches Servant a Etablir que Certaines Manifestations Hysteriques by M. le Dr Babinski (1886) Du Role du Reve dans L'Evolution du Delire by Philippe Chaslin (1887) - Chaslin was a French Psycharist who in the language of the time was referred to as an alienist. Notably, he demonstrated that there is widespread Gliosis in the brains of people with Epilepsy. This is a vanishingly scarce copy of his work on the role of dreams in the evolution of delusion. Contribution a L'Etude Pathogenique de L'Amyotrophie Tabetique by Jean Condoleon (1887) De L'Etiologie Hereditaire de la Paralysie Spinale Infantile Aigue by Henri Mathieu-Sicaud (1887) Publications du Progres Medical: Recherches Anatomo-Pathologiques et Physiologiques sur la Contracture Permanente des Hemiplegiques by E. Brissaud (1880) - Brissaud was a French physician and pathologist awarded with a large number of eponyms, many of which are now rarely used, including Bourneville-Brissaud disease (tuberous sclerosis), Brissaud's scoliosis (a form of scoliosis described in 1895) and Brissaud's disease (Tourette syndrome). With in-text illustrations. Etude Clinique de la Cephalee Neurasthenique by G. Lafosse (1887) In a quarter red morocco binding with decorative paper covered boards and marbled endpapers. Externally, smart, with moderate rubbing to the extremities. With publishing house label of A. Maloine to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. 'L'Amyotrophie Tabetique' is more age toned than the other works due to paper used. The odd pencil/ink notes or marginalia, including a list of the works written to the front blank by previous owner. The occasional spots, but largely bright throughout. Author's inscription to two of the works' titles. Very Good. Not Stated (illustrator). signed by author. book.…
