Damp staining to boards. Discolouration to page edges. Tear to head of spine of Volume I. Slight wear to corners of boards. Good solid bindings. Occasional patches of foxing to text. Volume III has some marking to endpapers and a few pages have been stained by pressed plants. Previous owner's inscription to all volumes (H.J. Gibson 1938) and another owner's inscription to half title page of volume III (H.J. Baylor, A.M. Staff). A good usable example of this classic work. Vol.I: series half-title giving this as Vol. CVI + xviii + 710, no ills.; tanning spots and patches through to p.1 and p. 687 to end, mostly flight but heavier towards ends, this par for the course for this series; Vol. II. series half-title giving this as Vol. CXII + xii + 681, no ills.; front gutter has thin paper split, tanning problem a bit worse than usual to front with odd marginal spots up to c. p.43, mostly quite light but some pp. fairly heavy (though not t.p.), end only lightly affected bar the end-papers; Vol.III: series half-title giving this as Vol. CXVII + xv + 780; minimal tanning but yellow paste-downs and facing inner sides of end-papers have central greyish discoloration. Top edge Vol. II has some ingrained dustiness, all tight and free from internal markings. Weighs 3.25 kg. unpacked so allow for significant additional shipping costs especially outside UK. 14 cm x 22 cm.
