Withdrawn by the Regional Plan Association, Inc. Library with their stamp at the bottom of the title page and the verso of the last photograph, as well as the library's pocket mounted inside the rear cover. Very good. "One of the best opportunities known today for making more seashore recreational area available within day-use radius of the largest population center in the United States is afforded by the Shinnecock Inlet area. A site that is well-suited to sand and surf recreation, it is large enough to permit adequate development for the thousands who would use it, but is only 90 miles from downtown Manhattan. Nowhere as close to the city of New York is there as long a stretch of privately owned seacoast so highly favored by a combination of relatively few ownerships, high percentage of area free from expansive developments, and accessibility by roads." - from the "Summary Evaluation". The plates included in this report include a "Vicinity Map Showing Shinnecock inlet Area" a 35 inch hand colored map showing the entire Shinnecock Inlet Area, original 7-1/2" X 10" silver gelatin prints of the beach, the dunes, the roadside post the 1954 hurricane, the parking lot at the Southampton recreation center [ie ; "Public Demand"], the fishing inlet and fishing center.
