A dramatization of the sordid life of Diana Barrymore, based on her 1957 autobiography, about her failed Hollywood career and descent into alcoholism (following in her father John's footsteps). An attempt to capitalize on the success of "The Bad and the Beautiful" (1952), which had also portrayed a fictionalized version of Barrymore through Lana Turner's character Georgia Lorrison. "Peyton Place" aired on ABC, from September 15, 1964 to June 2, 1969, and episode #3.2 (Season 3 Episode 2) aired on September 14, 1966. Loosely based on the 1956 novel by Grace Metalious, and preceded by the 1957 film, directed by Mark Robson, and starring Lana Turner and Hope Lang, and the 1961 film, "Return to Peyton Place," directed by José Ferrer, and starring Carol Lynley and Tuesday Weld.
