In den WarenkorbFirst edition, presentation copy, inscribed on the front free endpaper, "For Glenn, who has immeasurably added to my pleasure as an FDR collector and book collector generally - with high regards, Don Carmichael 23 December 1992". Donald Scott Carmichael (1912-2008) was perhaps the greatest collector of Franklin Roosevelt; the recipient was almost certainly the book dealer Glenn Horowitz, who helped build his collection. This volume, privately printed in an edition of 100 copies only, merges the essays written on Roosevelt by Donald's children, Brooke and Pamela, at Harvard in 1971 and 1973 respectively, which Donald advised on. "A lifelong Democrat, he was a member of President Johnson's Task Force on the War Against Poverty, a delegate to the 1960 and 1964 Democratic conventions, and served on the Ohio Civil Rights Commission" (obituary in Finest Hour, Winter 2008/9). Octavo. Original wrappers. Housed in a brown cloth solander box. A fine copy.

In den WarenkorbFirst editions, the author's own copies, with his bookplate: one of ten copies in quarter morocco, one of 90 copies in wrappers, and a unique, finely bound copy in red morocco, emblazoned with the Presidential Seal in gilt. Donald Scott Carmichael (1912-2008) was perhaps the greatest collector of Franklin Roosevelt. He met and interviewed Roosevelt three times in the 1930s, and they exchanged letters. The book, privately printed in an edition of 100 copies, reproduces these interviews and letters with commentary. "A lifelong Democrat, he was a member of President Johnson's Task Force on the War Against Poverty, a delegate to the 1960 and 1964 Democratic conventions, and served on the Ohio Civil Rights Commission" (obituary in Finest Hour, Winter 2008/9). 3 copies (see note), each in folding cloth chemise, housed in red morocco-backed pull-off case.
