Abstract: The fifteen volumes of L'Année liturgique by Prosper Guéranger constitute his principal work and a veritable encyclopedia of Christian heortology, representing a major achievement in both scholarship and synthesis, published between 1841 and 1866, a milestone in the history of the liturgy. Through history, mysticism, and practice, he sought to enable the faithful, on a daily basis, to discover how the liturgical texts constitute a true source of spiritual nourishment, gradually conforming believers to Christ through «the mystical seasons of the liturgical year. » L'Année Liturgique served as a programmatic foundation for the emerging Liturgical Movement, which arose within the Order of Saint Benedict. Keywords: liturgical year, Liturgical Movement, Monastery of Saint-Pierre de Solesmes, Prosper Guéranger, patristics, Roman Missal, Divine Office, monastic restoration, L'Année Liturgique, liturgical sources.
