Hardcover. Zustand: LIKE NEW. 227pp. Color photo illustrated. FINE copy in FINE jacket, AS NEW. From the dust jacket: 'Alonso Berruguete (c. 1488?1561) revolutionized the arts of Renaissance Spain with a dramatic style of sculpture that reflected the decade or more he had spent in Italy while young. Trained as a painter, he traveled to Italy around 1506, where he interacted with Michelangelo and other leading artists. In 1518, he returned to Spain and was appointed court painter to the new king, Charles I. Eventually, he made his way to Valladolid, where he shifted his focus to sculpture, opening a large workshop that produced breathtaking multistory altarpieces (retablos) decorated with sculptures in painted wood. This handsomely illustrated catalogue is the first in English to treat Berruguete?s art and career comprehensively. It follows his career from his beginnings in Castile to his final years in Toledo, where he produced his last great work, the marble tomb of Cardinal Juan de Tavera. Enriching the chronological narrative are discussions of important aspects of Berruguete?s life and practice: his complicated relationship with social status and wealth; his activity as a draftsman and use of prints; how he worked with his many assistants to create his wood sculptures; and his legacy as an artist.'.

Taschenbuch. Zustand: Neu. Druck auf Anfrage Neuware - Printed after ordering - 'If thinking about addiction is going to change, the study of excessive gambling is likely to be one of the richest sources of new ideas' (Jim Orford). In this book, the authors present research into gambling, showing the psychological variables that govern the erosion or maintenance of self-control over gambling behaviour. These studies provide an empirical basis for a model of impaired control of gambling. Impaired control, in its broadest sense, is considered to be the defining psychological construct of all the addictive behaviours and occupies a central position in conceptualising the addictive aspects of gambling.

Vintage "Kennel Club Experimental Film Festival" one-color flyer, San Francisco, for Wednesday, September 13, 1989, featuring two films by Tom Palazzolo, as well as other contributions by local and regional filmmakers including Julie Murray, Mark Street, Thomas Hollier-Larousse, Steve Jensen, David Dickerson, and Marc Heffels. San Francisco's Kennel Club, at 628 Divisadero Street, opened in 1987 as a popular alternative music venue for bands such as Jane's Addiction, Nirvana, Dinosaur Jr., The Melvins, and Jesus Lizard, among others. The club also held San Francisco's first Noise Pop Festival in 1993, then a one day event promoted as a "5 bands for 5 dollars show," before the festival became a week-long event and one of San Francisco's most notorious music festivals. The club was sold after seven years in 1993, briefly becoming The Crash Palace, which closed in 1994. From 1997 to 2002 the location was the hip-hop, electronic, and reggae club The Justice League, before becoming San Francisco's world famous music venue The Independent in 2004. 8.5 x 14 inches. Very Good plus, with light creasing overall and several pinholes.
