During our march forward through the century gathering more information on radiations and their interaction and expanding the area of our knowledge we have become more and more dependent on radiations and radioactive elements for our life and activities ranging from energy production to molecular biology. Radiotherapy is the most widely used non surgical methods in the treatment of cancers. But clinical experience shows that radiations are not always able to completely cure the tumors and therefore methods to enhance the tumoricidal effects of radiation are being studied. On the other side nuclear accidents and atmospheric releases of radiations and radioactive materials have increased the risk of genetic effects carcin genesis and embryonic malformations. Hence the current research gives great emphasis to radiation risk assessment. This book presents some of the current research in the above fields conducted in different laboratories which should give an insight into the contemporary problems occupying the radiation scientists in the basic and applied fields. Biodiesel derived from oil crops is a potential renewable and carbon neutral alternative to petroleum fuels. Different biofuels were already developed and used in many parts of the world and the most popular is the biodiesel which is an alternative to petroleum diesel. Extensive research and demonstration projects have shown that biodiesel can be used pure or in blends with conventional diesel fuel in unmodified diesel engines. Interest in biodiesel has been expanding recently due to government incentives and high petroleum prices. Biodiesel occupies a prominent position among the alternatives to conventional petrodiesel fuel owing to various technical and economic factors. It is obtained by reacting the parent vegetable oil or fat with an alcohol (Transesterification) in the presence of a catalyst to give the corresponding monoalkyl esters which are defined as biodiesel. Because of the nature of the starting material the production process and subsequent handling various factors can influence biodiesel fuel quality. Biodiesel steadily gaining interest and significance in light of recent developments such as the upsurge in petroleum prices and the implementation of financial incentives for its use. With the increasing interest and use the assurance of fuel properties and quality has become of paramount interest to the successful commercialization and market acceptance of biodiesel. One-third of the global biodiversity of fungi occur in India. The problems faced by the researchers are enormous due to the non-availability of complete data on the reported fungi from India. Hence, it has become important in bringing out up to date list of fungi reported from India. It has also become a necessity for fungal taxonomists. Therefore, the listing of Indian Fungi is important. Earlier, Late Prof. K. S. Bilgrami and his colleagues had taken much of effort to bring out the volumes of Fungi of India, wherein they had mentioned about the name of the fungus, collection place, date/ year etc. along with its related references. The present revision of "Fungi of India" Part I includes fungi reported from 1979 to 1988 and Part II includes enlisting fungi from 1988-2020, with their complete data with 1051 references.
