Full-Leather. Zustand: Fine. Language: French. The New Gulliver An unauthorized sequel. This French "sequel" to the Travels of Gulliver claims to be a translation from English by Abbé Desfontaines, the original translator of Swift's Travels. The New Gulliver is actually an original work by Desfontaines in which Jean, Gulliver's son, travels to four lands that Gulliver does not visit, including the island of Babilary, where women are superior to men. This work was later translated into English and included in the anthology of travel narratives from the late 18th century, Imaginary Travels in 1787. It is an Amsterdam edition, published in 1730 by: The Company. A Paris edition also appeared in 1730. Our edition is a second edition but it is extremely rare. Full leather binding, 16 x 9.5 cm, two parts bound together: 24 unnumbered pages, 204, 190 pages in very good condition. [This description may have been translated by AI.].
